Message from Congresswoman Susan Wild (Pennsylvania’s 7th district)

“Hello everybody. I am so honored to be with leaders from across the United States and around the globe in extending my warm regards for Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14. My name is Susan Wild. I represent in Congress my community, Pennsylvania’s Greater Lehigh Valley, which would not be all that it is today without the indelible contributions of generations of Pakistani Americans who have called Pennsylvania home. From building small businesses, empowering local industries to educating our young people in our public schools, and in higher education, defending our country in uniform, enriching our civic life, providing resources to the wonderful health care centers that we have here in Pennsylvania seventh, as well as to our wonderful manufacturing sector, my Pakistani American constituents have been at the forefront of making life better for all of us. And my community story is the story of Pakistani Americans in every corner of the United States. The values that drive Pakistani Americans are those at the heart of Pakistan’s Independence Day. Democracy, pluralism, human rights– they are the values that continue to drive us here in the United States to protect our fundamental rights, strengthen our democracy and building freer, more just and more equitable nation. Inspired by those common values that we have, I have no doubt that the people of Pakistan will continue to change the world for the better, and I look forward to continuing a long and rewarding relationship between the United States and Pakistan. I wish you all a safe and peaceful Independence Day. Thank you so much.”
