A large number of Pakistani media persons visiting USA for coverage of upcoming Presidential Election called on Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani today

Pakistan Ambassador to US Jalil Abbas Jilani warmly welcomed the Pakistani media persons currently visiting USA for the coverage of upcoming US Presidential election on 08 November 2016, here in Washington DC today.

While appreciating the keen interests shown by Pakistani media in the US Presidential Election, the Ambassador said that it was a sure sign of progress media is making in Pakistan. During the interaction, Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani gave a detailed overview of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and USA. Pakistan and USA have very important relationship and it has improved significantly over the years.

The revival of the Strategic Dialogue in 2013 has laid down a strong foundation of the fresh start to further strengthen between the two countries. Ambassador Jilani also drew attention of the participants towards Six Working Groups between Pakistan and USA which are working for advancing interests of both the countries in different fields namely Economic, Finance & Trade, Energy Sector cooperation, Counter Terrorism and Law Enforcement Cooperation, Defence Cooperation, Nuclear cooperation and cooperation in the fields of Education, Science and Technology.

While applauding the significant cooperation between Pakistan and US in the development of energy sector in Pakistan, the Ambassador said that both US and Pakistan have agreed on ‘Green Energy initiative’ and as a consequence, 3500 megawatts energy would be added in the national grid. Dassu Hydro Project which is of crucial importance for Pakistan also involves US cooperation, the Ambassador added.

Since Pakistan is the largest recipient of the Full Bright Scholarship Program, under the ambit of the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor Project, Pakistan is working closely with the various American universities to forge new possibilities for our students, the Ambassador concluded.
