Embassy of Pakistan presents Around the World Embassy Tour in Collaboration with Passport D.C
Embassy of Pakistan participated in an annual feature of DC, “Passport D.C. Around the World Embassy Tour.” Culture enthusiasts and tourists got an opportunity to experience many creative dimensions of life in both contemporary Pakistan and the ancient civilizations of the region.
Americans, international diplomats and South Asians visited the Pakistani embassy in thousands to have a glance into the past and present of Pakistan. A series of photographs depicting history of the country from ancient Indus and Gandhara cultures to the Mughal era architecture gave a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country.
On display were works of art, pictures, crafts, ornaments, traditional costumes from all provinces of Pakistan and photos of monuments, representing the multicultural heritage of the country that got fulsome laudation of the visitor’s.
Mrs. Shaista Jilani, wife of Ambassador Jilani met with participants, and said that the Embassy Tour event provided an opportunity to introduce and promote rich culture and softer image of the country.
A colorfully decorated Pakistani rickshaw with messages of cultural affinity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual humanity drew special attention of the visitors of all ages, who also had photographs taken with it.
“It is heartening to see so many visitors — we have tried to exhibit the diversity and beauty of Pakistani culture, natural scenery and heritage – I am sure this opportunity will help project the many facets of Pakistani life,” Dr. Asad M Khan, Cd’A said.
Besides participation in this annual feature, the embassy also plans to host a series of events to highlight the Pakistani culture.
The visitors including the younger generation of Pakistani-Americans enjoyed the traditional Pakistani cuisine and also had the opportunity to watch documentaries on life and culture in Pakistan. Folk music and traditional dances remained a central attraction on the occasion.
