Finance Minister’s Meeting with Chinese Vice Minister for Finance

Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a very cordial meeting with Chinese Vice Minister for Finance Mr. Yaobin Shi here on Friday.

The Finance Minister expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Vice Minister for great support that Chinese government and leadership has been extending to Pakistan in terms of economic growth, regional connectivity and economic betterment of Pakistan and the region. He said that team of experts from both the countries are working together on a number of projects, that have been identified by the Premiers of the two countries.

The Chinese Vice Minister thanked the Finance Minister for the ongoing bilateral cooperation and highlighted the importance China attaches to Pakistan as a good friend. He said that the ongoing cooperation between the two countries has achieved many objectives in terms of Pakistan-China Energy Corridor and hydel projects.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the Vice Minister about his meetings with the EVP IFC and other office bearers at the World Bank regarding establishment of a company for execution of energy projects. The Chinese Vice Minister assured the Finance Minister of his country’s fullest support to Pakistan in the ongoing and future projects. The Finance Minister informed the Chinese Vice Minister that macro economic stability has been the main area on which the present government has been focusing on since the day it has come into power. He said that Pakistan is also engaging the World Bank soliciting fullest support in terms of macro economic stability. Senator Dar also thanked the Vice Minister for Chinese help in the approval of the Jamshoro Power by the Asian Development Bank.

Both the Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to realize the vision of their respective Premiers for developing an economic corridor connecting Gawadar to Kashgar as well as the regional connectivity on the pattern of the EU.
