During the visit, Ambassador Masood Khan presented Letter of Credence to the Most Honorable Sir Patrick Linton Allen, Governor General of Jamaica, as a non-resident Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in a graceful ceremony on March 12, 2024.
Ambassador Masood Khan, in his remarks, conveyed the greetings and good wishes of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Governor General Jamaica. He emphasized the desire of the Government of Pakistan to strengthen the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Jamaica in diverse areas of mutual interest.
The Most Honorable, Sir Patrick Linton Allen, Governor General of Jamaica, felicitated the Ambassador Masood Khan on his appointment as non-resident Ambassador and conveyed his willingness to strengthen the bilateral relations.
Ambassadors/ high Commissioners of Denmark, Republic of Korea, Israel, Suriname, Ethiopia and Peru also presented their Credentials to the Governor General of Jamaica.
Earlier on March 12. Ambassador Masood Khan called on Senator Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade of Jamaica and presented copy of his letter of Credence.
Reaffirming the importance Pakistan attaches to its friendly relations with Jamaica, the Ambassador expressed his determination to work hard for building a more strong, vibrant and diverse partnership between Pakistan and Jamaica. Ambassador Masood Khan and foreign Minister Smith also discussed a wide range of bilateral matters and agreed to enhance bilateral trade, collaborate at the United Nations and other multilateral fora on candidatures, climate change, seabed issues and peace and security.
Ambassador Masood Khan stressed on early finalization of Framework Agreement on Cooperation between Pakistan and Jamaica. Foreign Minister Senator Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith congratulated the Ambassador and assured her full cooperation to the Ambassador.
Ambassador also thanked the Foreign Minister for Jamaican contribution in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
Ambassador, during his visit to Jamaica, also meet with Pakistani diaspora living in Kingston on March 11. Community event was hosted by prominent Pakistani Mr. Tariq Malik.
Ambassador lauded the positive role being played by the community and urged them to invest back in their motherland. Ambassador Khan emphasized that diaspora to maintain unity in their ranks and must not be dissuade through fake news propaganda. He urged business leaders to capitalize on the abundant opportunities in Pakistan. He mentioned priority sectors like IT, agriculture, energy, and minerals, which offer countless investment opportunities.
The Ambassador underscored Pakistan’s status as the largest country in South Asia with more than sixty percent of its population under thirty years of age. Ambassador stressed on the need to harness our nation’s potential fully and aid Pakistan is destined to become one of the great nation of the world.
During his visit on March 12, Ambassador Masood Khan was invited to attend Budget speech at the Parliament delivered by the Honourable Nigel Clarke, Minister of Finance and the Public Service.
Ambassador Khan also attended the reception hosted by Senator Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade of Jamaica in the honour of new accredited Ambassadors/ High Commissioners.
