Embassy of Pakistan, Washington D.C. organized Mehfil-e- Milad to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on 10 Nov 2019. Mrs. Zunaira Asad Khan, spouse of the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, welcomed the guests on the occasion. In her remarks, she reflected upon the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). She said the Prophet’s life and character was the personification of the ideals of mercy, dignity, tolerance, fortitude and forgiveness.

The Guest Speakers highlighted various aspects of the present crisis in Kashmir. They said that the unilateral action of 5th August 2019 by India was a brazen attempt to change Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) demographics and its political, economic and social character. The siege has turned IOJ&K into the world’s largest prison. They called upon the international community to wake up on Kashmir issue and take notice of the gross human rights violations occurring in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

To commemorate Kashmir Black Day and to raise awareness about the recent crisis in Kashmir, a luncheon discussion with the students of John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) was organized at the Embassy of Pakistan, Washington DC today, 28 October 2019. Ambassador Dr. Asad M. Khan briefed the students on the history of the Kashmir dispute, the significance of Kashmir Black Day, the relevant UNSC resolutions and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJK) after the Indian Government revoked the special status of the region on August 5th, 2019.
