Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony held at Embassy of Pakistan Washington D.C

To celebrate the 74th Independence Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan Washington D.C. today.

Amb. Dr. Asad M. Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the U.S., hoisted the Pakistani flag at the Embassy courtyard.Special messages of President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan to the nation were read out on the occasion.

In their messages, both leaders paid homage to the sacrifices and contributions of the founding fathers who struggled against heavy odds to create an independent homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent.Stressing the significance of this historic day, Amb. Dr. Asad M. Khan greeted the Pakistani American community members. He lauded the sacrifices of the nation which has shown tremendous resilience in the face of hardships and difficulties.

The Ambassador particularly acknowledged the contributions of the diaspora in Pakistan’s national and economic development, and their role in helping Pakistan combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

He stressed that, as a result of timely and prudent policies of the Government, the public health situation in the country was improving and the economic impact of the crisis was gradually being brought under control.The ceremony, held in accordance with local COVID-19 guidelines, was broadcast live on the Embassy’s official Facebook page.
