Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani visited Capitol Hill to meet with Congressman Phil Roe and Congressman Dan Newhouse.

Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani visited Capitol Hill today to meet with Congressman Phil Roe and Congressman Dan Newhouse. Matters related to bilateral relations, regional developments and other issues of common interests came up for discussion. Ambassador Jilani emphasized that Pak-US cooperation in counter terrorism has been an enabling factor in contributing to Pakistan’s successes against terrorists networks.

The US Congressmen expressed interest in regional developments and agreed on the need for Pakistan and the United States to continue working closely for peace and stability of the entire region. They appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices in fighting violent extremists. They also exchanged views on other wide-ranging issues including, bilateral economic engagement and cooperation in areas such as agriculture and water conservation.
