Ambassador Sherry Rehman discusses US-Pakistan ties with key Congressional leader

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman Friday called on Congressman Harold Rogers, the Republican Chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, as part of her outreach campaign to the U.S. Congress.

The meeting was characterized by warmth and the two sides expressed understanding and appreciation of each other’s positions on various bilateral issues, according to a press release issued by the Pakistan Embassy.

The Ambassador apprised the Congressman of developments in Pakistan and in Pakistan-U.S. relations, stating that the relations were on an upward trajectory. She also briefed the Congressman on bilateral cooperation across various fields, including counter-terrorism.

Congressman Rogers expressed appreciation of Pakistan’s cooperation and understanding of the various challenges confronting Pakistan and that Pakistan was trying to deal with, the press release said. While underlining the difficult economic situation in the United States, Congressman Rogers assured the Ambassador of continuing U.S. support and assistance.
