Statement by the Adviser

Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, has welcomed the announcement made by the governments of United States of America and the Republic of Cuba to re-open Embassies in each other’s capitals. He stated that this step to re-establish full diplomatic relations that were terminated in 1961, will help promote friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples. The Adviser noted that Pakistan had welcomed the momentous announcement by the two countries in December last year to re-establish diplomatic relations.

Mr. Aziz said that as a friend of both countries, Pakistan believed that further steps towards full normalization of relations will also promote the cause of peace and harmony in that region. He wished both governments success as they moved forward in this direction.
