Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, H.E. Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani spoke at the inaugural Banquet hosted by the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) at its 38th Annual Summer Meeting in Florida. A large number of Pakistani-American Physicians and prominent members of Pakistani American community attended the gathering.

Ambassador Jilani acknowledged APPNA as the leading and distinguished Pakistani-American organization, which was a pride of the Pakistani community in North America. He remarked that APPNA members had made tremendous contributions over the years with services to both the country of their origin and the country of their adoption

He highlighted the positive developments taken place in Pakistan as a result of the Government’s people-friendly policies, which had boosted the socio-economic development and greatly improved the security situation.

While underscoring the significance of youth in the national development he urged Pakistani community to encourage their young generation to come forward for protecting and promoting the interests and concerns of the community in the wider American society.

Ambassador Jilani apprised the meeting of the Embassy’s numerous initiatives to engage with the Pakistani community and Embassy’s efforts to facilitate the community in every possible way, which were widely lauded by the community. He announced that Pakistan Embassy in Washington would be hosting the second Annual Convention of Pakistani-American Community (CPAC) in October, 2015, which will be attended by leading community members from all over the United States.

The APPNA Summer Convention coincides with the Pakistan Independence Day celebrations.
