Ameer Ullah voluntarily travelled back to Pakistan under the supervision of two medical attendants

Ameer Ullah, a 22-year old student of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad, was among 125 students selected for the State Department funded Global Undergraduate (Global UGRAD) exchange program for one semester study in USA. He was enrolled in Murray State University, Kentucky.

Immediately upon his arrival in Washington DC, Ameer Ullah suffered from severe headache. He was taken to Suburban Hospital Bethesda MD, which is a part of Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was diagnosed with deep brain tumor. The Embassy in coordination with the US State Department continued to monitor the condition of the patient.

Subsequently, the doctors came to the conclusion that the surgery was not in the interest of the patient. However, necessary medical procedures including biopsy were carried out for allowing further long term treatment in Pakistan. Upon his discharge from the hospital, an officer of the Embassy remained in regular contact with the patient.

Since he was not in a position to continue his studies, Ameer Ullah voluntarily travelled back to Pakistan under the supervision of two medical attendants on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.
