Ms Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination held a meeting with Ms. Avril Haines, U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor at the White House

Ms Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination held a meeting with Ms. Avril Haines, U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor at the White House today. She was accompanied by Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Both sides discussed Pak-U.S. bilateral cooperation in the health sector and agreed on deepening and broadening the relationship in this important area. Mrs. Tarar apprised Deputy NSA Haines that health was being accorded high priority and was one of the main components of the people-centric policies of Government of Pakistan. She thanked the Deputy NSA for the support extended by the U.S. Government in the social sector.

Health security being an important element of national security also came under discussion during the meeting and both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation under the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA).

The Deputy NSA reaffirmed U.S. commitment to further assistance and collaboration for socio-economic development in Pakistan.
