Embassy of Pakistan commemorated 50th Defence Day of Pakistan

Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Washington D.C. commemorated 50th Defence Day of Pakistan to pay tribute to those Pakistani men and women who laid down their lives in the service of their country. Display areas were set up to highlight the bravery and courage of our military in 1965 war.

The event was well attended with representation from US Govt (both civilian and military) and diplomatic community including military representatives of the allied and partner nations. The ceremony included recitation of Holy Quran followed by national anthems of both the nations and welcome remarks by the Defence Attache and Ambassador of Pakistan. Traditional Pakistani cuisine was served during the reception.

During his remarks, the Ambassador, H.E. Jalil Abbas Jilani, remembered sacrifices rendered by the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen of Pakistani Armed Forces. He paid special tribute to the martyred men and women as well as their families. He also reiterated resolve of the resilient Pakistani Nation to overcome all challenges and emphasized on the significance of relationships among nations to deal with contemporary issues facing the world. He duly acknowledged the multifaceted support and assistance of the United States to Pakistan.
