Ambassador Jilani’s meeting with Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA)

Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani today met Senator Tim Kaine, Senator Kaine is member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees.

Ambassador Jilani briefed Senator Kaine on the recent developments in the bilateral relationship and elaborated on wide ranging cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, defence, security and counter-terrorism. Ambassador also apprised the Senator on the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan which was aimed at eliminating all terrorists from Pakistani soil. The Ambassador underscored the need for peace in the region for economic development.

Senator Kaine appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to address the challenges of terrorism and assured the US support for peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan India relations and the situation in Afghanistan were also discussed in the meeting.
